Jim Proebstle, award winning author and fellow Rotarian, spoke to our club Wednesday February 20, 2013 and shared with us his book titled “Fatal Incident”. Fatal Incident is a story based on true events involving a military air disaster on September 18, 1944 at 11,000 feet in an uncharted area of the Mt. McKinley range in Alaska. No evidence as to the cause of this crash was ever uncovered and no evidence of the 3 crew and 16 passengers, dead or alive, ever surfaced. Ooooh… Enticing!

Within minutes of his presentation and introduction of the book the group as a whole was quickly swept up into the story line and wanted to know more. First the plane crash was described, then the main characters were introduced, then some additional characters were introduced and finally the storyline that brought the whole book together. Before we knew it the time for the presentation was up! Good thing Jim brought several copies of his book that we were able to purchase and have the individual opportunity to read the entire book and find out the whole story. As an added bonus he was more than happy to sign them for us.

As a group we are grateful Jim was able to come out and present his book and as we do with each of our guest speakers we will be donating a new children’s book to the local library in his name.

Fatal Incident is available where books are sold and anyone wanting to know more about the story can visit the book website at www.fatalincident.com.
