As a young man Ricardo Paniagua was shy and very hesitant to open up to others. It wasn't until his mother forced him to join the local Boys & Girls Club that he developed into the promising young man he is today.

As a young member of the Boys & Girls club he was skeptical of what it could offer but he soon realized, through activities & club engagement, the potential & learning possibilities the club is capable of providing. After a while as a member it wasn't long before he started to open up more and more and taking advantage of everything that was available and develop into a respectable young adult.

As part of the Youth of the Year Award Ricardo was able to receive a $5,000 scholarship for his college education and the opportunity to compete in a state wide competition for additional scholarship money! Best of Luck Carlos!

For a lot of young children in the Carpentersville Community a College education is a far fetched dream but to go from a dream to a foot in the door, like Carlos has done, is a great accomplishment. One of the many reasons we continue to support the Boys & Girls Club of Dundee Township is to be involved in situations like this and provide the opportunity for positive child development.
